The detention of teens under 18 are required by the Il Juvenile Courtroom Act. The particular minors available are juveniles who've already been accused of carrying out a criminal offense and so are awaiting a court date. Each at-risk youth could be sentenced to as much as 30 days. Only a court and judge can decide how long a teen can stay in a detention center. More info here.
