Antisocial Personality Disorder
Antisocial behavior can be a very lonely life. Many people that suffer from this disorder spend much of their time alone. Another name for antisocial behavior is social phobia. Simply put this means afraid of being in a social situation. This can also be a form of an anxiety disorder. Some people get very uncomfortable in a very noisy room where people are speaking very loudly. This type of anxiety or anti social behavior may be a short lived problem or go on for years. While some people get over the social phobia, others may need intense professional help and some type of medication. It is estimated that about 18% of people in the United States suffer from some type of anxiety disorder. It is even possible that some children suffer from antisocial disorder or behavior.
Social Phobia
Social phobia is not only fear of going out into the public but a fear of being judged by other people. This can become a fear strong enough to keep someone from going to work or even outside at all. The fear can be manifest by a person being afraid to eat or drink in public, fear of meeting someone, and even to give a speech in front of other people. A person with anti social behaviors or social phobia may worry about an event for weeks. While it is safe to say most people do not enjoy speaking in front of a large group of people, the person suffering from social phobia will not allow him or herself to be asked to speak. The fear of embarrassment is so great they will miss out on many opportunities that would help them grow.
