Tips and Advice to Stop Teen Drunk Driving
Teen underage driving is becoming a negative trend that needs to stop before more and more people get hurt or possibly killed. A survey was recently conducted and found that 2 out of 10 students in high school have drank alcohol.
What's more frightening is more young teens are getting in the car with some who has had a drink or someone who is completely drunk. If you remember back when you were in high school and how hard it was, think of nowadays and how difficult it must be for our children and teens to say no.
One lesson we can teach our kids is drunk driving not only hurts those involved in the actual accident but consequences can hurt many more. For example, a friend or family member who loaned their car to the drunk driver will be haunted with guilt for letting them take it. One of the worst things that can happen is the drunk driver who killed his passengers but he himself survived. The ripple effect goes out much further then the drunk driver.
Below is a list of some things you and your family members can do to spread the dangers of drunk driving:
- Put out flyers and posters announcing drug free and alcohol free parties that can be just as fun as parties that have alcohol.
- Go to the MADD website and download their new handbook about the dangers of drunk driving and send it to everyone you know.
- Have a heart to heart talk with your children and teens and be sure to emphasize how many people are hurt or killed due to drunk driving.
Millions of teens across the country may not understand how dangerous buzzed or drunk driving may be. We as parents have much more power when it comes to our kids then we may realize. Do something today before it's too late. The next victim to underage teen drinking could be our own kids and family members.
