Preteen Behavior Problems - Parenting A Preteen

If your young teen child has behavior problems you are not alone. There are thousands of parents in the US who don't know what to do if their child shows signs of defiance. If you don't do something at an early age they will most likely cause you more troubled when they grow into teens and young adults. One of the first things to do is stay calm and have patience. Also, the preteen needs to know that you love them for who they are. Unconditional love is the most important thing to do.

Sit down and talk with your child and see if you are able to understand what is bothering them and what you can do to help them change. A preteen's friends should be monitored because whomever your child hangs around, they will most likely follow what they do.

There are websites and sometimes local support groups you can attend and talk with other parents that are experiencing the same type of issues and problems you are facing. Show support if your preteen child show interest in a hobby or some sort of sport.

If your preteen shows major behavior problems you may need to other things in order to change their negative behavior. Below is a list of things you can do to punish your young teen.

• Take away certain items or toys your preteen likes. Computers, phones etc.


• Make it clear the rules you expect them to follow and punish every time they mess up.


• Write up a contract that defines the limits and negotiations you want them to follow.
