Teenage Suicide Warning Signs - Teen Suicide Help
In this day and age the rise in teenage suicide is raising at an alarming rate. Teens are presented with a lot of different emotional and social problems which can cause depression which can lead to teenage suicide. Sometimes as a parent we are not very observant as to how and what our teenagers are doing let alone how they are feeling inside. Teen suicide can be avoided and as parents we need try hard to recognize the warning signs.
If you notice the following warning signs, do not take them lightly. Get professional help immediately.
- A lack of interest in hobbies or sports they used to love
- Grades suddenly drop or they get suspended or expelled
- Rumors of your teen getting bullied and harassed at school or work
- Constantly talking down on themselves and shows signs of low self-esteem
- Eating habits and sleep habits may become erratic and change drastically
- A change in music, a change in clothes and sometimes friends
- Notes or texts with friends joking about suicide
- Cuts, burns or bruises on their bodies
This list is not complete and some teens may show one or possibly all the signs mentioned above. The fact is teens need attention and love. If we pay more attention and share more love with our teens is the first step when trying to stop teenage suicide. A good way to find out what your teen is thinking is to ask other siblings. Sometimes teenagers feel closer to siblings rather than sharing personal feelings with parents. Let your other children know your particular teen is having a hard time and to be considerate and more caring to them.
If your teen has already tried to commit suicide you may want to take them to a qualified professional that can provide advice and help your teen may need in order to save their life. Do not take these warnings signs lightly. Sit down with your teen and try and ask them if there is anything you can do that can help them.
