Teen Marijuana Abuse On The Rise
A recent study has been conducted and it is estimated that marijuana is the most common drug abused by teenagers today. Almost half of all teens who use marijuana don't do other hard drugs. However, it is almost guaranteed that alcohol abuse accompanies marijuana use. Peer pressure can be one of the main reasons why teens smoke marijuana in the first place. A large percent of teens probably wouldn't have even tried weed if it weren't for their friends.
Approximately 200,000 young teens will need to be sent to rehab due to marijuana abuse. Just like cigarettes, marijuana is addictive and teens with excessive amounts of THC in their systems may have a harder time trying to quit the drug. More and more rehab centers are accepting teens who are not only addicted to marijuana but other hard drugs. Meth is one of the hardest drugs to quit and is becoming a drug you can make in your basement.
When of the main reasons teens get hooked on weed is the fact that they get to escape from their lives and forget about their problems. Like any drug, people who are depressed want to get away from the stresses of life, will do drugs. Marijuana happens to be the drug of choice for some teens. It is important to note that marijuana is not as addictive as drugs like heroin or crack cocaine. However, we do not recommended anyone do marijuana or drugs.
