Teen Violence In US High Schools
In the past 20 years, high school violence has risen to a unfathomable level. In the early 50's minor bullying was the main concern. Now, some schools in downtown cities have metal detectors that teens have to go through just to get into the school. More and more police officers are being hired just to patrol and watch local high schools. Why is the violence level getting so high? Why do so many teens act out in violent outbursts?
A recent report was done in San Mateo county and a Hillsdale student was charged with violently threatening students and using pipe bombs. He also was carrying a sword and chainsaw! This teen was obviously a little mentally unstable, but most likely got the idea from a violent movie of video game.
When he was later taken into custody he claimed that he wasn't being serious. Any teen that brings any type of weapon to a public school should treated like a terrorist.
