Teens Fighting in School
Handling a teenager can be quite a hectic job, especially when they are constantly fighting in school. When teens start fighting in the school, obviously the responsibility to stop the fight lies on the shoulders of the school authorities alone. The school authorities need to go to the bottom of the problem and find the reasons behind the fight. The most viable option would be to confront the teen and ask him/her the cause behind their absurd behavior, before making any sanctions on them. The school authorities need to assess whether the teen is violent by nature or has simply experienced an outburst.
If it was a sudden outburst, then the school authorities must use the help of a counselor to help the teen out. If the teenager is violent by the very nature, then applying a zero-tolerance policy would be more appropriate in the school. In case the teachers fail to remedy the situation, seeking the intervention of the higher school authorities would be more appropriate. The school can also help the teens to find an outlet for all their frustrations and problems. This might help reduce the violent incidences in the school. Peer mentor programs along with school counselors can be of significant importance as an outlet of anger.
Teenagers who are constantly fighting in the school must be encouraged to be more involved in the extracurricular activities. This will ensure that the teen becomes more familiar with the other classmates and to develop friendly relations with them. If the school authorities believe that the teenager's behavior has gone beyond acceptable levels then they can always take the assistance of the police. The police can be of great help, especially if the teen becomes a potential threat to the other students.
It has been found that violent teenagers often get involved with other more serious crimes in the future. They may start taking drugs, alcohol, marijuana or other forms of steroids. Under such circumstances, correcting the actions of the teen at an early stage may help the problems later on. Furthermore, the parents can also play a very important role in correcting the behavior of their children. Children learn from their parents, therefore the parents must demonstrate themselves as ideal role models for their children. Parents must also try to instill good values in their children, so that they can benefit the school and the society as a whole.
