Help Your Teenager Create A Healthy Diet
Being a teenager is a tough job. Always worrying about what you look like and how your peers will judge you. Teenage obesity is a major problem in America today. There is no magic pill or machine that will make you instantly thinner. Proper dieting and exercise will shed the pounds off faster than anything else.
Getting your teen to maintain a healthy diet starts when the parents first have the baby. If you are a parent with young children it may be a good idea to teach your kids about what foods are healthy and which foods should be avoided. The main reason for teenage and child obesity is the parents feeding the children junk food. The parents or guardians need to learn proper dieting skills before they pass them on to their kids.
Creating a healthy diet for your teenage children may not be as hard as you think. If you are a stay at home mother or father, learn new recipes and have a family dinner each night. Also, pack your kids lunches with healthy food and snacks.
Below is a list of foods that are low in fat and also tasty.
- Turkey sandwich, turkey hot dogs, turkey bacon
- Low fat dressings and mayo
- Instead of soda, try adding a no sugar alternative to bottled water.
- Cut up fruit and veggies in small bite size pieces
- Fruit smoothies made with low fat yogurt
Teaching your teenage son or daughter about dieting can be hard in these hectic times we live in. It's ok every once in a while to order a pizza or to get a burger. Just be cautious and make sure it's not an everyday thing. Lastly, controlling portion size is key to maintaining a healthy and manageable weight. Serve smaller portion sizes and encourage them not to go for seconds. If you follow these steps your teen will hopefully take these eating patterns and apply them when they get older.
