JROTC High School - JROTC Ranks And Awards
The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps also known as JROTC, is a program for teens who are possibly interested in joining the army later on after high school. Just to be clear, there are many types of JROTC programs, but it is mostly military or army training before actually entering the military boot camp.
JROTC can be a good way to help teens better understand the military and the history of our country and how it was founded. JROTC programs also help teens learn to be good leaders and teach them self respect and discipline.
JROTC can be looked at like an extracurricular program from your local high school. Some JROTC programs will have teams or groups who are on the drill team, which spin wooden guns. One of the best and most beneficial things ROTC can offer is the amount of credits you can receive if you graduate from the program. Colleges like students who have gone through the program because of the extensive discipline it takes.
Some of the ranks ROTC offers are:
- Private PVT
- Corporal CLP
- Sergeant SGT
- First Sergeant 1SG
- Sergeant Major SGM
The highest is Command Sergeant Major.

- Marksman Air Rifle
- Sharpshoot Air Rifle
- Small Bore Rifle
- Unit Star White
- Cadet Challenge Bronze, Silver, Gold
- Cadet Challenge Ribbon
